Beyond the Lens, Reflections of a National Geographic Photographer
This 200 plus page book displays the work of Bruce Dale, a brilliant and masterful photographer that dedicated 30 years working for the National Geographic Magazine. During that time several thousand of his images were published, capturing countless moments in time. This book reflects back on some of Bruce’s adventures, sharing the pictures and stories that make up his remarkable body of work.
When presented with the opportunity to design this book I had two initial objectives. The first was to determine an overall size, one that provides room for a respectful display of photography. The second was to create a clean and simple layout for both the images and text to reside. The final design is one of transparency – allowing the photographs and stories to speak for themselves, transporting the reader around the world. And in several cases right into the cockpit.
