Peacock Stump Sculpture
While visiting my brother at his farm in Circleville, Ohio, I was asked if I could do something with the stump left behind from a tree removal. So with the help of my niece we came up with a plan to turn it into a couple peacocks. With chainsaw in hand the carving began. It took two visits to complete, the final one being my nephew’s high school graduation party. The finishing was done with a fine grit grinding wheel, smoothing out the upper portions of the bird. A coat of oil was also applied to bring out the richness of the wood and provide some protection.
