Reach, No. 1 – Human Experience Series
We succeed or fail, imagine or ignore, and love or hate from the influences of our human experiences.
This series explores a few of life’s many experiences through sculptural expression. The work also expresses some of my artistic influencers – M.C. Escher’s perception of symmetry and Piet Mondrian’s simple abstractions. I use the geometric and architectural commonality of both artists to simplistically express my feelings through the use of the most basic design elements – straight lines and circles. In these works the straight lines expresses the emotion of a life experience and the sphere symbolizes a human perspective.
The “Reach” sculpture’s back and forth upward movement appears to stretch outward from the vantage point of the onlooking sphere. A magical quality is also on display through the delicate balance of the composition.

“When you reach for the stars, you are reaching for the farthest thing out there. When you reach deep into yourself, it is the same thing, but in the opposite direction. If you reach in both directions, you will have spanned the universe.”
