The meaning behinds the naming of the sculpture “Vis” – The Latin root vis is recalled through the word “Vision”, someone’s ability to see. The word vision was first used in 1300, something seen in the imagination or in the supernatural, from Anglo-French visioun. And, as a noun “vis” means strength; force; power. So… as your inquisitive eye peers through the opening in the sculpture I hope the reasoning behind the sculpture’s name comes into focus.
